Knowing the difference between social media marketing and social media management is very important when developing your campaign strategy.

Social Media Marketing / Advertising
Social media marketing allows you to pick your demographics, pick your targeting and based on your budget and your targeting, make your business ads visible to your target audience instantly, and you can start seeing the results come through in a very short period of time. Social Media Marketing/Advertising can get you visible tomorrow which is great, but it’s a little more costly. It’s is ideal for driving traffic to the top of your sales funnel.
Social Media Management
On the other hand, social media management is an organic approach. You have to build content. You have to constantly post content. You have to engage with your community and what happens is, if you continually work and put forth that effort, you’re going to see an increase in followers (at the time of writing this, Facebook will only show your organic posts to less than 2% of your current following). That following doesn’t happen overnight, and Facebook is making it increasingly difficult to get an organic following. It happens over a long period of time. The rewards and the benefits are tremendous but it’s more of a long term strategy. So, in other words, when you start social media, in the first month or two, you may not have a lot of followers but after a year, you could have a fair following that’s generates a decent amount of interest in your business. It’s an investment you have to make long-term.
Which One Is Better?
Well honestly, it’s important to invest in both. Through social media marketing / advertising, you want to be visible to you ideal target market, build your brand awareness to people that may never have heard about you by making an investment in running paid campaigns. But you also want to build your organic presence and social following/likes. You want to post content and engage with your community. You want to engineer a social proof and if people see that you have both, they’re going to trust you even more and you’re going to get a tremendous amount of sales and results.
